Janus

Janus is the young ward of Mordecai Grimsby. The magistrate took the young boy in upon the request of his mother shortly before she vanished. Her whereabouts are unknown but the government has officially listed her as deceased. Unlike most boys of his age and status, Janus is not attending school. He is home taught by Grimsby and his summon Stolas where he learns all manners of practical things save for how to summon a demon of his own.

Janus suffers from the inability to process fear as his fellow humans would. He has often been reprimanded for approaching another summons or chasing after creatures with reckless abandonment. His curiosity far outweighs any kind of inherent sense of self-preservation.

I based this character loosely off of the character archetype found in scary stories that go into haunted houses and greet the spooks around them rather than run from them. While many of these characters are labelled as "simple folk", I would like to think its merely a matter of perspective/psychological development as a child.
